VEGETAZIONE

1995, Livio Seguso, Venice
This work seems to move as if the trees were fluttering in the wind. It was named from the Italian word that describes the way plants grow in clusters. The pipe-shaped transparent glass flutters as if shaped by the wind and reflects how the light changes depending on the time of day as well as the changing seasons, creating harmony with the surrounding nature. Made for the 100th anniversary of the Venice Biennale in 1995, this highly acclaimed work was exhibited in a lagoon, a unique Venetian environment..

Red Reed

Dale Chihuly
The red glass tube is a spatial artwork by Dale Chihuly, who studied glass making on the island of Murano, Italy. The tubes were carefully stretched one by one using a glass-blowing technique, evoking the image of reeds growing in clusters along the water's edge. These tubes are strangely full of vitality, reminiscent of new life budding from the earth's surface.
